From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as important members in the powerful family could assist the party enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This means them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Explorers and Schemers tables.
